Reactions to the PSP hardware revamp, the PSPgo, have been mixed at best, though most people seem united in the opinion that the UMD-less system is overpriced at £229.99.

Hardware costs are something that Sony seems to be struggling with ever since the PS3, and while it is unlikely to backpedal on the PSPgo price point, PSInsider believes the electronics giant might be preparing a budget option.

Its source has hinted that an 8GB model of the PSPgo is planned at a lower price point. Exactly what that cost will be is unknown, and naturally there's been no official discussion on the topic, placing this deep within vague rumour territory for the time being.

Although 8GB is pretty much considered a bare minimum requirement these days, it's still more than enough to play with. If this is what it takes for Sony to shave a few quid off the hardware retail price, we're all for it. But how much would you pay for a PSPgo with half the memory?

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
