Tekken and Soul Calibur coming to iPhone?
Maybe so as Namco joins the App Store “gold rush”
As we reported a few weeks ago, Namco has opened up a new studio exclusively dedicated to developing iPhone games. The first project will be Pac-Man Remix, a colourful re-imagining of their arcade classic.
It seems that resurrecting old gaming icons isn’t the extent of the developer's ambitions, however. Talking with Kotaku, producer Jonathan Kromrey revealed that iPhone versions of some of Namco’s more recent IPs are on the cards too.
When asked about the potential challenge of adapting technical fighters such as Soul Calibur and Tekken for iPhone, Kromrey replied: "I would love that. I think twitch games would be great, it's just the controls that are a challenge. We are thinking about that."
It seems that Namco is also thinking of the possible Yen signs too, with Kromrey openly referring to the current environment as “a gold rush”.
Well, at least he’s honest.
