It’s fair to say that the DSi hasn’t made quite the splash its predecessor the DS Lite made, and it’s equally fair to say that this latest announcement probably won’t help.

With the 1.4 firmware update, you can go on Facebook with your DSi and upload the pictures you’ve taken with it.

The update also brings with it, "faster image display speed in [the] DSi camera". Preliminary calculations indicate that this is roughly 500 per cent less interesting than the Facebook functionality, which is itself roughly as interesting as very mild rain.

Oh, and it’s only in Japan. No word yet from Nintendo when the update will be rolled out to the rest of the world. If you’re an American or European DSi owner who uses Facebook, then, you’ll just have to access it using one of the many other means already at your disposal.
