Following on from the iPhone Quality Index compiled by our sister site PocketGamer.biz, it’s the turn of the mobile phone. Taking into account review scores from a number of recognised websites during the second quarter of the year, Digital Chocolate has come out as the finest publisher with an average of 8.00.

There’s more good news for I-play, who emerged as the best iPhone publisher during the same period - it's second on the mobile list with an average score of 7.82.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the performance of the so-called big guns - EA, Gameloft and Glu. EA and Glu sit in 8th and 9th place respectively, while Gameloft is propping up the table in 11th position.

Still, with an average score of 7.04 for Gameloft, it’s hardly a poor performance from any of the trailing publishers. Rather, it seems that the mid-level publishers have really upped their game. It’ll be interesting to see how the big boys respond.
