In fairytales, you're supposed to leave a trail of breadcrumbs to find your way back from your mazey adventures. In the equally complex world of the App Store, the route to success is more often heralded by a trail of updates and a free Lite version however.

That's the pathway Pixel Mine Games is following anyhow.

So prior to the release of a major 1.2 update for its dungeon crawling RPG Underworlds, it's just released a free Lite version, which offers most of the action you'll get in the full version - currently priced at 99c or 59p.

Starting out in the Happy Cadaver Inn, you get to carry out missions for the townspeople of Albrect as they are overwhelmed by hellish monstrosities, with your activity building up your character’s offensive skills such as slash, shield bash and berserk, or healing abilities. Of course, you can also shape your character's levelling up in terms of maxing out attributes such as strength, dexterity, intelligence or constitution.

"Underworlds Lite will allow a new market segment to experience our game,"said Bill Money, Pixel Mine's chief creative officer. "Hopefully they'll also download the full version since the 1.2 update is coming out soon with more than double the original's content."

You can get Underworlds by hitting the Buy It! button, or the Lite version via this link.
