As tag fights go, zombies versus sheep is unlikely to rank high on an all-time list that consists of crocodile versus snake, shark versus tiger, and Jennifer Aniston versus Angelina Jolie. Although, there was that Black Sheep film....

But no, the point behind publisher Clickgamer and developer Studio Radiolaris's latest 99c/59p game Zombies vs Sheep is simply that you have to save the sweet little sheep from the brain-eating attentions of the zombies.

For some reason best known to the creators, the action is Mexican-themed (surely Wales or New Zealand would have been more appropriate?), while the graphics are cardboard-cutouts.

Control-wise, you have to shoot the zombies by tapping them, while moving your sheep by tilting your device to collect coins and avoid falling bats and flaming skulls. Reload by quickly flicking in any direction. Weapons include shotgun, assault rifle and dynamite. You can also upgrade your sheep to make them less munchable.

And in keeping with the current meme, the game will also use the OpenFeint social networking platform so you can send scores to the leaderboards, see your achievements, post to twitter and Facebook and check out friends lists etc.

Zombies vs Sheep is out now, priced 99c or 59p. Hit the Buy It! button to go direct to the App Store.
