It seems Sega is unstoppable in milking every last pixel from its new, feature starved iPhone Mega Drive emulator – and this time it's Streets of Rage that's getting the retro treatment.

The beloved 16-big beat-'em-up appeared on the App Store last night, encouraging you to take the atypical '90s tough guys Adam Hunter, Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding on their side-scrolling quest for hard-hitting vengeance once again.

Much like Sonic The Hedgehog and Golden Axe, Streets of Rage adopts the controversial on-screen D-pad and buttons as a control system. Unfortunately, early reports are suggesting very similar performance issues to the two previously released sago retro titles, and while it was disappointing that Golden Axe failed to offer a two-player experience, it's almost unforgivable in one of the 16-bit era's finest fighting games.

Hit the 'Buy It!' button to go and take a closer look (though your time may be better spent checking out the awesome Streets of Rage Remake if this Sega classic holds a special place in your heart).

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
