You can have arguments all day long concerning whether console games are inherently shot through with violence, but it's definitely the case that the App Store is overflowing with more nurturing experiences.

From tasks such as landing planes in Flight Control to building tall skyscrapers in Tower Bloxx and docking cargo ships in Harbor Master and er... dropping bombs in iBomber - well, you get the rough picture. There are plenty of iPhone games in which you're tidying up the world and its objects.

Taking the concept into space is Moon Drop, which uses touch gravity as its main gameplay mechanic.

So, as the pods fall down from the void of space towards the rocky lunar surface, you have to steer them to their landing pads by controlling the direction of their descent by touching on the screen. The pods will steer away from wherever you touch, with the level of repulsion based on how long you hold your finger down.

Of course, each wave of pods is larger, requiring you to be quicker when landing them. You earn extra points for landing the pods dead center on the pad or in coordinated groups.

You can see video of the game in action here.

It also has an in-built twitter feed so you can compare your score to other players.

Moon Pod is out now priced 99c or 59p. Hit the 'Buy It!' button to go direct to the App Store.
