Get free Scoops on US National Ice Cream Day
NimbleBit prepares to get patriotic for the third Sunday in July
The premise is so bizarre you have check it's not something thought up by J.G. Ballard on mescaline, but apparently it’s true that, in 1984, ol' Ronnie Reagan (yes, the Gipper himself) declared the third Sunday in July to be American National Ice Cream Day.
So what should the patriotic American do on National Ice Cream Day? Of course, observe the holiday with "appropriate ceremonies and activities".
In which case, patriotic American iPhone developer NimbleBit will be giving away its Scoops game – official name Scoops: Ice Cream Fun For Everyone, which sells at a regular price of $1.99 or £1.19 – for free.
Scoops, which apparently has been downloaded over 200,000 times, has you stacking up ice cream scoops as high as you can manage – kinda like Tower Bloxx but with ice cream scoops not tower blocks.
At this point in the story, we'd like to add a quote from NimbleBit co-founder Ian Marsh about licking up the goodness of the summer or somesuch, but sadly he's chosen not to fall into that trap.
So... Err... That's it.
Scoops for free on Sunday July 19th. But hit the 'Buy It!' button now if you can't wait that long.
