Company pops a cap in GTA: Chinatown Wars rumours with its own original game

Gameloft to pimp out Gangstar: West Coast Hustle exclusively on iPhone

Following speculation that a Grand Theft Auto-style action game is being prepped for an exclusive release on iPhone, Gameloft has today confirmed that rumour by announcing Gangstar: West Coast Hustle.

Based on the mobile series of the same name, this new instalment introduces fully 3D open-world action completely new on iPhone.

The game, which is set in Los Angeles, has you taking the role of a gang member who takes on a variety of missions in a climb to the top of the criminal underworld. Driving will play a big role in play, as you can jack cars and race them around the city, crashing into buildings or pedestrians.

Other features include a reputation system that enables you to build up your own gang's strength, wealth, and power across the city of angels.

Early video of the game posted on German website iFun.de shows a remarkably agile game. Whether its darting around in a yellow cab or shooting up rival gang members, the game looks slick.

Expect more on Gangstar: West Coast Hustle in the coming weeks leading up to its end-of-summer debut.
