Rolando 2 is live on the App Store

It's live, although as of writing it's not live in the UK. [Full disclosure alert: originally this bit said it was only live in the US, but since reader t7gger claims it's available in Switzerland that's clearly poppycock.]

[Further poppycock alert: except it IS available in the UK, if you click the 'buy it!' link at the bottom of this page. Ignore me - it's late.]

One way or another, Rolando 2: The Quest for the Golden Orchid has been at the forefront of iPhone news for the last week or so after ngmoco decided to remove the original Rolando game from the App Store to help focus attention on the sequel.

But you spoke out on the matter, and ngmoco was listening, deciding the best tactic would be to leave the original game where it is in case any newcomers decide they want to complete their collection after playing Rolando 2.

The storyline follows a desperate, rolling adventure across a mystical island as you attempt to locate the only cure for an illness that has struck the Rolando sages - a fabled golden orchid.

The gameplay follows a similar style to the original, requiring you to rule the eponymous heroes around the beautiful, cartoony scenery - guiding the larger Royal Rolandos, agile Commando Rolandos and a host of other spherical protagonists - on their dangerous quest.

Developer HandCircus has also implemented its new Plus+ social networking service in Rolando 2, allowing you to post scores on online leaderboards and send challenges to your friends.

Hit the 'Buy It!' button to rule on over to the app store and check out the sequel, which has just gone live, and then bounce right back and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
