Bub & Bob are back in Android's Puzzle Bobble

Taito goes bubble bursting on the Google phone

We don't take much convincing to write about two of our favourite retro gaming characters, bubble blowing micro-dragons Bub & Bob, and Taito has just given us one extra excuse by launching Puzzle Bobble for the Android.

Also known as Bust-a-Move depending on which part of the world you're playing in, this latest adaptation promises not to simply be another direct port from the mobile platform (a trend that's not doing Android any favours in terms of its gaming prowess).

Puzzle Bobble has been built from the ground up specifically for the Google platform, which is evident from the screenshots. Otherwise, this is the classic, inverted match-three gameplay from 1994 that we've come to know and love, and Taito promises us more Android games in the near future.

I'd like to put in a vote for Arkanoid, Renegade, The New Zealand Story and Rainbow Islands, thank you very much.

Spanner Spencer

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
