E3 2009: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise to get iPhone app

There are some big changes happening for next instalment in the multi-million selling Madden NFL series. EA's just announced the Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise, which - as the title suggests - is an online extension of the American football game.

This brings a more management approach to the sport: Europeans can think of it as a Championship Manager addition.

At present, it will only work with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Madden NFL 10 but one significant feature is that you'll be able to access the Madden Online Franchise via a web browser or a custom iPhone/iPod touch application. This will enable you to change your team set ups and the like while you're away from your console. These changes will then be applied to the next game your team plays.

No official release date has been announced, but we expect something to hitting the App Store alongside Madden NFL 10's release on 31st August. We also hope and expect the app will be free. After all, you will have shell out $50 for the console game.
