New Metal Gear to infiltrate PSP Go!

Sony lets slip that Konami's big E3 surprise is a new PSP exclusive

New Metal Gear to infiltrate PSP Go!

In an interview for Sony's Qore video magazine, Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller briefly mentions that a new installment of the Metal Gear franchise is indeed heading exclusively to PSP.

Konami has spent the last week teasing a new game and Koller's comment seems to confirm speculation the title is within the Metal Gear series. Artwork of notable characters Big Boss and Raiden make it difficult to point where the game falls in the series timeline. It could very well be a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots tailored to the device or a compilation of previous installments.

While few details are provided about the game itself, Koller's mention of the title in the midst of discussion about the new PSP Go! assuredly points to a digital download release. For those without the new machine, there's no mention (yet) of a UMD retail option.

Stick with us through the week, as Konami is likely to provide an official announcement and more details during E3.
