You can get an official Tamagotchi game from the App Store but Humble Gaming's EdiMon sounds a bit more interesting.

The basic idea of this release is fairly simple, but that's because it's a precursor to a larger game that will be released in June. Indeed, EdiMon is the Chosen One for the Eden Universe.

In this version - called EdiMon+ - (surely EdiMon minus — Ed?), you get to meet the bright pink character who will be the hero of the entire franchise.

There are three mini-games with which to test your fingers and brain; weight lifting, meditation, and guessing, each of which comes with five difficulty levels.

In the weight lifting mini game, you have provide energy to EdiMon by quickly tapping two buttons of the same colour hidden in a field of many buttons.

The meditation game sees you tilting your iPhone or iPod touch to stop EdiMon from falling over and breaking his meditative state.

In the guessing game, you must keep up with EdiMon's thought bubbles by finding a match with the onscreen objects, whether they are reversed, backwards or upside down. You get to post your scores at the end of each game.

EdiMon+ is out now priced $1.99 or £1.19.
