Hudson pencils in first downloadable DSi Sudoku games
Think number boxes not retail boxes
We're expecting to see bundles of announcements about DSiWare during E3. Certainly we're hoping for bundles of DSiWare announcements next week.
Otherwise Hudson's announcement that it's bringing Sudoku Master and Sudoku Student to the download-only platform could be considered rather depressing.
Not because we're down on Sudoku or Hudson - although neither is very thrilling - but there are already lots of Sudoku DS retail games so it's hardly filling a gap in the market, even if these are the first downloadable Sudoku games for DSi.
Anyhow, some details.
The games have been designed by Nikoli, the Japanese puzzle company that popularised Sudoku in the mid-1980s and each title will feature a tutorial mode with how-to instructions on solving puzzles.
In addition, Sudoku Master will feature a class certification mode, which tests advanced players' puzzle solving abilities and rates their skill levels.
Both titles are currently scheduled for release in North America during the summer. Pricing hasn't been announced but is claimed to be "very affordable", which suggests 500 Nintendo Points to us.
