iPhone Otaku has been looking at Capcom's recent announcement at the Global Technology Summit in Tokyo, in which the gaming giant promised a greater commitment to the iPhone.

Chief financial officer Kazuhiko Abe promised ten new games based on Capcom's bulging catalogue of intellectual properties before March of 2010 for the App Store, in an effort to expand the company's presence in the western markets.

He pointed out this increased profile wouldn't be achieved through the acquisition of local firms, as its Japanese rival Square Enix has been doing recently.

Therefore, it seems clear that Capcom will increase its western muscle by leveraging its strong line up of IPs - something the company can boast more of than most any other player in the games industry.

With Resident Evil: Degeneration recently sneaking up on the iPhone, it seems only logical that Capcom will bring in its other big guns, such as Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, and any number of other big name games all under the Capcom banner.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
