Being as I'm not much of a communist and I hate soap operas, I don't have a great deal of time for the BBC. But we might finally be getting a little something interesting for our TV tax on May 25th, when Radio 1 partners with Xtra1 to bring us its Big Gaming Weekend.

Alongside playing a selection of gaming music, listeners are being invited to vote on their top three games of all time for a list of 100 industry-chosen favourites. The poll will be opened for a brief window on Friday May 22nd, between 06:30 and 10:00.

There'll also be a few game reviews and some scoreboards announced over the air, so if you're keen to get your current high score broadcast to literally hundreds of Radio 1 listeners, tune in on Bank Holiday Monday between 19:00 and 22:00.

International gamers can also listen in online through the internet stream, though don't forget to send in a cheque for about a hundred quid to help keep the Beeb's ex-MP fat cats in port and caviar (ouch).

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
