Apple in backlit Home button shock horror

That’s right - according to a new report, the iPhone upgrade will feature a backlit Home button! Better get saving so you can upgrade the moment it comes out.

To be fair, Chinese website WeiPhone.com (I think that means ‘People’s Phone’, which is a nice communist name) is also suggesting there’ll be a few other upgrades in the iPhone pan, too.

Primarily, the processor is said to be upgraded to 600MHz, which is quite reasonable considering the mild criticisms people have levied against the iPhone’s speed in comparison to the iPod touch 2G.

It also talks about a 3 megapixel camera upgrade, the expected 32GB memory boost and an increase of system RAM to 256MB (which will also presumably help with the operating speed).

Although it doesn’t get a mention it’s reasonable to expect a battery upgrade to help out with the new processor and the back lit home button. Externally, the iPhone is said to be identical, so this actually all adds up to a very believable spec list.

Apple is expected to confirm everything in June at the WWDC, so we’ll be out of our rumour misery soon enough.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
