Silent Scope has the App Store in its sights

It's been a big night for the App Store. Not only did Gameloft release the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed adaptation, but Konami sends out its hot sniper game conversion, Silent Scope.

There are already one or two 'touch sniper' games on the iPhone (not the least of them being Metal Gear Solid Touch), but the Silent Scope franchise is easily the most well known of the genre.

The president and his family have been kidnapped, and it's up to you as a roof-mounted sharp shooter to take out the terrorists from afar.

Naturally it's a tap to shoot game, with a double tap putting your eye up to the scope to get better view of the targets. You use the touchscreen to aim, while holding a finger on the screen and swiping slows the crosshair movement to give you a bit of refined accuracy.

Considering Silent Scope is a big name conversion from a major software house, fans of the series will be pleased to learn it's not coming in at full price, but a very affordable £3.49.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
