Tapulous really helped prove the value of alternative promotional avenues for the music industry - forging a close link between App Store products and iTunes sales with not only the themed versions of Tap Tap Revenge, but the free one, too.

Now other bands are getting in on the iPhone craze, with Artificial Life signing a three year deal with multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park (and their owners Warner Bros Records, of course).

The deal will result initially in four iPhone applications and games featuring the band's likenesses along with new ways to enjoy their music.

“We want to offer our fans every opportunity to enjoy our music,” says Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn, who helped design the initial game. “We’re excited to be working with Artificial Life to develop a new and unique way for them to experience Linkin Park.”

The exact format of these promotional games and apps is yet to be reveled, though we can apparently expect the first to appear toward the end of the year.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
