Some cars have four gears, some have five, some have six, and at the superfly end of the specification spectrum there are cars with seven, and even eight. But a great driver only has two gears: fast, and furious. In combination, these two gears not only allow a gifted driver to win races, but they let him solve crimes and attract beautiful girls at the same time.

That’s the principle behind Fast & Furious, the latest instalment in the high octane action racer movie franchise in which talented public servant Brian O'Connor uses his driving skills to take down criminal organisations and bring their masterminds to justice.

I-play’s mobile game of the film sees you infiltrating the underground racing scenes in L.A., Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, playing out set pieces like the movie's bare knuckle tunnel race between Mexico and the USA. There are four different modes - Drift, Point-2-Point racing, Drag, and GPS - and if you don’t feel like playing any of those you can unleash your speed and fury on a friend via phone to phone multiplayer.

There’s a massive total of 36 top end vehicles to drive, from fancy imported performance machines to brutish muscle cars, but these aren’t upgrades that you can simply unlock and take for granted. True to the series’ celebrated Pink Slip gameplay, to get a new car you have to win it, and you can just as easily lose a few of your own in the attempt.

If you like your driving games fast, furious, and sublimely playable, then I-play has just the game for you.
