The existence of Devil May Cry for PSP has always been uncertain. It was announced at the launch of the PSP in 2005. Then, in 2006, Capcom listed a PSP version of the camp slasher on its website, but never announced the game officially and nothing ever materialised. Then, about a year ago, history repeated itself, with Capcom posting and then deleting a listing.

Up till now there was still hope that that Devil May Cry was still in development. In light of the PSP’s stellar 2009 line-up, in fact, you might have supposed that it was finally about to see the light of day this year. But if reports from across the land of the rising sun are to be believed, you’d be wrong.

According to PSP Kombo, Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has revealed that Capcom has officially cancelled the game. We’ve asked Capcom for comment, and we’ll let you know what we hear.
