The average price point for games on BlackBerry newly launched App World is higher than what most gamers were expecting, with Glu placing its six launch titles at a wallet emptying £7.85 each.

The price point suggests, however, that Glu has high hopes for making money on the new digital distribution platform, and considering the BlackBerry has traditionally been the plaything of the business class, it might not be mistaken.

Brain Genius 2, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Monsters Vs Aliens, Super K.O. Boxing, Transformers G1: Awakening and World Series of Poker Pro Challenge were available on the App World from day one, though Glu has now promised a catalogue of 30 downloadable titles will soon be available.

“BlackBberry App World will provide users with a one-stop-shop to find all of their favourite applications,” says Jill Braff, Glu’s senior vice president of global publishing. “We look forward to providing a quick and easy way for consumers to easily access games for their BlackBerry smartphones.”

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
