Now here’s a game to get hysterical about

Hysteria Project stalking the iPhone at last

Hysteria Project is all about capturing the essence of horror through tension and anxiety, and we must admit we’d begun fearing that it wasn’t going to make it through the App Store approval system.

Apple’s been deliberating about Hysteria Project for well over a month, but we’re delighted to see it’s finally made its way out of those dark and foreboding woods to the safety of your iPhone.

Hysteria Project is a highly innovative title using live action sequences combined with quick time events and touchscreen triggers to take you on a terrifying journey through the woods as you attempt to stay a few steps ahead of a mad axe man.

It’s careful not to splash gore all over the screen, however – preferring to deliver the permeating sense of apprehension and horror through excellent cinematography, suggestive environments and a superb audio component. Make sure you take the game’s advice and play it wearing headphones (give it a go in the dark, too).

You can check out our exclusive Hysteria Project hands-on preview and an interview with developer Bulkypix, then hit the ‘Buy It!’ button to creep up on it at the App Store.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
