Over on TouchArcade they’ve snagged a great gameplay video showing off the iPhone adaptation of America’s favourite serial killer, Dexter.

Clearly the game is based very much around the TV series, as much as the books, and the characters seen (such as Laguerta, Deb, Angel and Masuka) are immediately recognisable. As is Dexter’s apartment, in fact, complete with removable air conditioner grill for hiding away your blood samples.

The game runs at an impressive 30 frames per second, which makes for a very smooth jaunt around the full and detailed 3D environments. The stealth mechanics involve walking Dexter quietly and carefully between objects when his prey has its back turned, up until you’re close enough to put a needle in its neck.

To cater for different kinds of RPG gamer, you can also switch between third and first person perspectives, and much of the scenery is interactive in nature.

We’ve not seen the level of gore that a Dexter game suggests is likely, though the first Ice Truck Killer’s victim is shown cut up into nice, neat, bloodless pieces in the bottom of the empty swimming pool, so the verdict’s still out on Apple’s typically prudish reactions.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
