During yesterday’s liveblogging of the Apple 3.0 unveiling, Stu picked up on the news about Ngmoco’s new game, LiveFire, which our own Rob Hearn took a closer look at.

It’s a multiplayer FPS that’s already been dubbed as a Quake-killer, and judging by these early screenshots, we can definitely see why.

LiveFire will make use of the new In App Purchase microtransaction function also announced yesterday, allowing you to buy credits and content packs to boost your in-game abilities (assuming you can’t be bothered to earn the credits by battling it out with other players).

“In LiveFire, players will earn credits as they play that can be redeemed for new weapons and upgrades inside the game,” ngmoco founder Neil Young told IGN.

“The more committed and skilful the players are, the more credits they will earn. Additionally, players can purchase expanded content packs directly from the iTunes store using the 3.0 in app commerce system.”

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
