The iPhone seemed like the perfect environment for RastaMonkey - the star of the hit casual web game that went down a storm at the Unity Developers Game Awards.

Well, Noam Abta, owner of the game’s development studio Nikato, let TouchArcade’s forumites know the game has now been submitted to the App Store, and pending approval it should be with us any time now.

RastaMonkey is a simple game, but no less ingenious for it. Your task is to help the chilled out simian swing from branch to branch collecting up bananas. The web version is free to play (you need the Unity plug in, also free), but be careful before you give it a lash - it’s mightily addictive and will easily devour your afternoon.

Which is why we’re looking forward to the iPhone version so much. Check out this brand new gameplay video of the finished product, then find some way to mellow out while you wait for RastaMonkey to swing onto the App Store.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
