Nothing definite, but it’s a nice thought

It’s hard to believe Pikmin was released way back in 2001, and on a previous generation of console. But this unusual, addictive strategy game has been returned to the forefront of our gaming minds ever since the re-engineered GameCube version was resurrected for the Wii.

In preparation for the US launch of this revamped Pikmin game, GameSpot has been chatting with the original game’s project leader Shigefumi Hino, who seems to think a DS version is more than viable.

“As Nintendo DS has its own unique advantages, it would be possible to create a gameplay-control mechanism which would be good for and unique to Pikmin,” he says.

So there’s no indication that a Pikmin port for the DS is even in the works, but at least the concept appears to be pretty solid in Nintendo’s collective mind

If anyone starts a petition, we’d definitely sign it.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
