EA Mobile has revealed that it's publishing the mobile and iPhone versions of Distinctive Developments' Facebook game Anytime Pool - and that they'll be fully connected with the original.

That means someone playing the game on their iPhone, iPod touch or other mobile handset will be able to play against their friends on Facebook, including continuing games on their mobile that were started in their web browser.

Distinctive Developments has developed all versions of the game - the Facebook version launched in beta in April last year, and has been constantly refined since, alongside the development of the mobile versions.

The latter also have a single-player mode, with 14 characters and five exotic locations.

But it's the Facebook functionality that's got us excited. Pool is, obviously, a turn-based game, so you don't have to play in real-time.

Instead, you take a shot, then your opponent takes theirs whenever they're online from their PC or handset - which could be minutes, hours or days. But you can have multiple games going at once.

It's going to be a big deal when the mobile versions come out in March. Stay tuned for an interview and review closer to the time. In the meantime, get in some practice on the Facebook version.
