Remember how we reported on PopCap's confirmation that Peggle is coming to iPhone in the first half of this year?

Well, we've got up close and personal with it, during a briefing with Apple's senior product manager for iPhone worldwide product marketing Eric Jue today in London.

Peggle was one of the titles he showed off, and we can report that it's looking excellent.

Not just in terms of the graphics, although they do benefit from being played in landscape mode on the iPhone.

But what made us think this could be the definitive version of Peggle was the controls. You simply tap and hold to move your aim left and right. It's a simple thing, but it's so much more tactile than using a keypad.

Jue agrees. "I feel this game will have the same success as Tetris. It's so compelling that people will just play and play and play. Trism has the same effect."

There was no update on the game's release date, but having seen it in action, we can't wait.

The full list of games Jue showed to us today (with links to our coverage) was: Sway, Tiger Woods 09 and Let's Golf, Peggle, WordFu, Alpine Racer, and Zen Bound (which we've previously reviewed).
