Beware the Puritas Cordis

DS adventurers get to open the Secret Files again

Maybe that old point-and-click is coming back into DS style: not only are we looking forward to the March release of Charles Cecil's director's cut version of Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars but Deep Silver is revving up for the second adventure game in its Secret Files series.

We really enjoyed the first game Secret Files: Tunguska, thanks to its "cracking story, excellent presentation and a satisfying challenge".

The sequel, Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis - apparently the subtitle refers to an unscrupulous secret society - once again sees main playable characters Nina Kalenkov and Max Gruber ready to save the world from pending apocalypse.

However, this time, as an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend combination, we're expecting there will be simmering sexual tension thrown into the mix with those dramatic puzzles. Providing relief will be a third playable character, a priest who is handed ancient documents that promise to unlock the mysteries.

Another pleasing feature to note is that German studio Keen Games, responsible for the excellent ANNO 1701: Dawn of Discovery, is in charge of development.

Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis is due for release some time in 2009 - within the next couple of months we’d assume.
