IGF Mobile Competition off to a flying start

Double the number of entrants this year

IGF Mobile Competition off to a flying start
|

The Independent Games Festival Mobile kicked off in 2007, and spurred a lot of mobile developers to get onboard the indie train. The results of the first competition were quite spectacular, but the IGF Mobile 2009 has just recorded over 100 entries - more than double that of the first competition.

The boost in numbers in undoubtedly due to the introduction of the Best iPhone Game grand prize - featuring a $10,000 award from sponsor ngmoco. Organisers of the festival are keen to point out that there's no shortage of entries for the other handheld platforms, such as DS, PSP, mobile and even the ill-fated Zune.

A full list of entrants can be found here at the official IGF Mobile website, and prize winners will be announced on January 26th, 2009. Good luck to all involved from Pocket Gamer!

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
