Take Batman's ride for a virtual spin

The Dark Knight: Batmobile Game revs up the iPhone

There have been surprisingly few Dark Knight games, considering the ruckus the movie caused - in fact, we think the mobile version has been about the only digital incarnation of the Joker's awesome, revamped debut.

Anyway, Warner Bros is aiming to promote the DVD's release with a new iPhone micro-app, The Dark Knight: Batmobile Game. The deliberately tiny game (weighing in at 59p) lasts for about a minute, apparently, with a single racing sequence that asks you to complete the Batmobile course as quickly as possible using the turbo boost. After that, it's on to the bonus round, which is the same, only faster.

It definitely looks splendid, though we can't help but feel a better promotion would probably be achieved by giving this app away for free. Still, 59p doesn't break the Bat-bank if this sounds like it's enough to draw you in.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
