We took a look at the top five nominees in each category of the 2008 IMG Awards just the other day, and it's now been announced that Swedish-made Ghostwire by A Different Game has landed the coveted Mobile Games Innovation Challenge award, and a €40,000 bag of cash to help further the game's development.

C4M (France) and Jadestone (Sweden) came in second place with Melokey, winning €20,000 for their music and social-networking game, while UK-developed Watchers by Eclipse Interactive took third place and €10,000.

"We are happy to see such exciting mobile game concepts come from each of the three winners of the Mobile Games Innovation Challenge and are looking forward to seeing these innovative ideas come to life," said Dr Mark Ollila, director of games publishing at Nokia.

The winner, Tom Söderlund, CEO of A Different Game said, "We believe Ghostwire has the potential to become an exhilarating and innovative game, and we're happy the jury agrees with us. The entire team is overwhelmed and excited to win this important award."

Congrats to all from Pocket Gamer! Hopefully we'll be reviewing all the contender's games before too long.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
