Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is announced for Europe
Square brings its all singing, all dancing RPG to DS
If you find the average Japanese RPG plot a little bit bewildering, and let's face it some of them are a bit nonsensical, then Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure could be the game for you.
The Square Enix title, originally released back on the PSone, is essentially a musical RPG which replaces all the genre's usual lengthy cut-scenes with songs and dances.
Today, in its second announcement of the day (it also announced a western release for another Nippon Ichi developed RPG, Disgaea DS), Square Enix has signalled Rhapsody will be released across Europe in spring 2009.
Rhapsody is described as an 'easy to understand' RPG, ideal for those new to the genre but it's one that still comes with its challenges and traditional tactical turn-based battles.
It's been redeveloped for DS, so now there's also an easy-to-follow navigation map which makes simplifies exploring dungeons, as well as touchscreen controls for moving characters and a more intuitive dual screen battle system. On top of all that, there are new playable characters in this updated version, too.
The cute anime visuals remain though and the characters still burst into song and dance at key moments making it a bit like a Bollywood Final Fantasy.
You can find out more about the game in our Rhapsody preview should tge above words have sold the concept to you.
