Looks like Trauma Center getting serious

Emergency Room: Real Life Rescues enters the DS theatre

Trauma Center was about as much a medical simulation as New Super Mario Bros was a plumbing one. We've watched Casualty - we know emergency rooms are full of old men who have fallen off ladders, or empty because their personnel have left to attend to motorway collisions involving petrol tankers and light aircraft. They're not curing patients of some weird disease called Guilt, and they don't have surgeons who can slow down time.

Perhaps with that in mind, Legacy Interactive has decided it's time something a bit more realistic was published for DS and has announced Emergency Room: Real Life Rescues.

Little about the game has actually been confirmed alongside the title and screenshots above, but you don't need a medical degree and microscope to work out it's decidedly more of a simulation than Trauma Center.

Not when the on-screen instructions include ' Place the oral airway in front of the patient's mouth' and 'Place the stethoscope icon on the patient's chest to listen to the heart or lungs'. Most exciting though is that you get to cut people out of their clothes with a pair of scissors. Which has to be the best bit of being a doctor or paramedic - especially when they're wearing really expensive clothes.

Emergency Room is due for release in the US in early 2009. We'll keep you updated on it - and on news of a UK release if you click 'Track It!' below.
