Atari's Super Breakout released for iPhone

Just in time, considering other Breakout clones have mysteriously vanished

Atari's Super Breakout released for iPhone

Atari's legal success story (hail the honourable lawyer!) was a triumphant day for the games industry, as a variety of Breakout clones were asked to remove themselves from the App Store. Unfortunately, one small side-effect was that gamers were left without any classic block-breaking action.

As happenstance would have it, Atari was ready to save the day with its own iPhone conversion of Super Breakout, so gamers of the world can once again rejoice in retro-styled one-player-Pong delight.

Super Breakout allows you to apply your own picture as a background, and has the option for two-player support (presumably taking it in turns). The application description suggests the game begins with touch screen control, and moves onto accelerometer as the levels progress, and includes both Classic and Super modes.

Head on over to the App Store to pick up your copy as soon as possible. Atari has hungry lawyers to feed, you know.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
