EA Mobile is planning to release Spore Origins as an N-Gage game, judging by reports from the Games Convention Asia show in Singapore.

The news has been reported on local blogs Nine Over Ten and WilfredWong.com, but Nokia has now confirmed the news on its official N-Gage blog, citing internal sources as saying the reports are true.

It sounds like the game is pretty similar to the existing mobile and iPhone versions (mobile one pictured above), focusing on the cell phase of Spore, where you swim around the primordial ooze and add bits to your creature every few levels.

The announcement claims that the game "takes full advantage of the N-Gage functionality", which presumably means connected elements. In an ideal world, it would include both the online battles of the mobile version, and the camera functionality of the iPhone version.

No news on a release date, but we'll keep you posted.
