Galaxy on Fire 2 to feature ad-sponsored trial version

Free-to-try sequel to Fishlab's hit game coming this autumn

Galaxy on Fire 2 to feature ad-sponsored trial version

The hotly anticipated sequel to the mobile smash hit Galaxy on Fire is set to have a trial version free to download directly from Fishlabs website this autumn.

The trial will be sponsored in part by the SOMA in-game advertising system, which will allow gamers to test out Galaxy on Fire 2 for a few levels before deciding whether to unlock the full game. There's even a rumour circulating that some territories will be offered an entirely free, ad-sponsored full version.

This represents the first game in a deal between Fishlabs and Smaato to begin implementing the SOMA advertising system into future releases.

"Thanks to the outstanding quality of Fishlabs's mobile games portfolio and the success of popular shareware sites in the internet and on mobile we have a huge fan base of several million mobile gamers worldwide," explains Fishlabs co-founder Michael Schade.

"Fully integrated ads are the best way to monetise from free trial versions without bothering users with complicated billing methods or copy protection. The SOMA ad server technology delivers us the perfect tool to integrate ads seamlessly into our games and Smaato brings the service to sell our ad inventory through their ad sales network partners on top of that."

We're definitely interested in free games, but only time will tell how intrusive such ad systems could prove. Galaxy on Fire 2 is a highly anticipated game, and a good place to test the new sponsorship system by, well… fire.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
