Social gaming firm Mytopia has announced the launch of its technology on a range of smartphone platforms, including iPhone.

The company's social gaming community is already available on social networking websites, including Facebook, MySpace and Bebo. It lets people play simple casual games against each other, earning virtual 'nuggets' which can be exchanged for virtual and real-world prizes.

Mytopia is now launching mobile versions of its games for iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Palm OS handsets, which will allow mobile players to compete against and chat with players online.

Although free to play online, Mytopia plans to charge for the mobile games, with players either subscribing, or downloading individual games for one-off fees.

It's one of the first attempts to bring the social gaming that's proving so popular on Facebook and other social networks to mobile phones, although more companies are sure to follow.
