Arsenal and Spain star Cesc Fabregas is the cover star for Gameloft's upcoming Real Football 2009 mobile game.

The publisher has published a teaser 'Coming Soon' graphic on its website, which shows the star strutting his stuff.

There's no details on gameplay yet, but with the new football season underway, it surely won't be long.

This year is shaping up as particularly good for mobile footy fans, with a titanic three-way battle in store between Real Football 2009, FIFA 09, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.

Having played the latter two in Leipzig last week, we reckon it's going to be a tight contest.

However, it remains to be seen if Fabregas can escape what industry insiders (okay, us) are calling The Curse Of Real Football.

In 2006, the cover stars were Djibril Cisse, Oliver Kahn and Andrei Shevchenko, who respectively went on to break a leg, get dropped from the German team, and flop at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, last year's UK cover star Peter Crouch struggled to win a starting spot in the Liverpool team, couldn't help England qualify for Euro 2008, and then got sold to Portsmouth.
