| Reset Generation

We've been spending every free moment possible with Reset Generation and it's easy to understand why. This Platinum Award-scoring puzzler offers addictive action that we just can't put down.

A large part of what makes the game so outstanding is the near-endless tactical possibilities. Ten characters with unique powers translate to as many distinct play styles, not to mention the random nature of the blocks and items that appear each round.

Learning how to play with each character is the first step to mastering Reset Generation, but there's a lot more to it than that. So we went directly to the pros – the people who made this phenomenal game – to get their advice. From effective use of blocks to potential uses for a chicken egg, the team behind of Reset Generation gave us their tips on how to power up the best game possible.

Get reading and get winning (as a bonus, we've listed their N-Gage Arena player names in parentheses so you can test out their tricks against them)!

1. "Make sure to play some of Reset Generation's story mode tutorial before going online: Your online opponents will be too busy stealing your princess to coach you." – Jason Bates (ikona), writer

2. "Combos are everything in Reset Generation. I see most new players using their cannons exclusively to protect items – don't. Use your cannons to disrupt your opponents combos." – Scott Foe (scottfoe), executive producer

3. "Monster boxes can have a huge effect on the balance of power. Use them whenever you can, and don't let your opponents' monsters run free or gang up on you. A single Blockapede, left unchecked, can quickly fill the playing field with opponent combos." – Jani Karttunen (Sunsh1ne), pixel artist

4. "If there is an item that you definitely need on your next turn, you can protect it by shooting both your cannon balls at it." – Joonas Tamminen (Jokkeri), chief technology officer

5. "Don't forget that eggs can be tossed at an opponent – even a small amount of damage to an opponent can force them to drop the Princess and turn the tide in your favour." – Antti Ilvessuo (anba), creative director

6. "After the game starts do your best to create some combos ASAP. Without combos, you won't get items, and, well… you will lose quickly." – Kim Lahti (kimssuli), development producer

7. "Super Stuffer: There are times when you might actually want to avoid making combos. Every time you make a combo, it adds to your opponents Super Meter: If it looks like you are about to win, don't make combos unless you absolutely need to; otherwise, you might end up powering your opponent to a surprise victory." – Scott Howard (dangerboy), publishing producer

8. "The Monster Stop: You're playing Hedgehog, and you have a full Super Meter and a monster box is nearby: Toss the monster out in front of you so that when you Hog Ride, the monster acts as a break. This is a good way to Hog Ride into your castle while holding a Princess!" – Seth Sternberg (8bitweapon), 8-Bit Weapon

9. "Most Surprising Move Ever: Using the Sci-Fi Knight, Sci-Fi Mind Trick an opponent into rescuing your Princess – guaranteed to drop jaws, but not very good for your ranking!" – Toni Laaveri (torvelo), games programmer
