3D sequel announced after being frozen in space for 504 years

Galaxy on Fire 2 coming to mobiles this autumn

Back in September 2006, Fishlabs left our mobile mouths agape with the original 3D shooter, Galaxy on Fire. News of a sequel has been a long time coming, but the German developer of the award winning original has finally let slip a few details about the anticipated follow-up.

In the next episode, mercenary Keith Maxwell, the hero of the original game, is catapulted through time and space by a malfunction in his spaceship's hyperdrive. He wakes up 35-years in the future and finds himself in a changed galaxy threatened by the invasion of an unknown alien race.

It all sounds very Buck Rogers, which is high praise indeed from such sci-fi obsessed 30-somethings who roam the Pocket Gamer corridors arguing about who can do the best Twiki impression and why the Cylons would gets their arses kicked by the Draconians.

Er, anyway, Galaxy on Fire 2 promises more of the same outstanding 3D visuals that made the original so iconic, with more than 10 hours of space-adventuring gameplay and over 30 different ships to choose from.

"The first part of Galaxy on Fire, which appeared a good three years ago, was our first really big 3D title. Naturally, the expectations for the second part in our fan community are just as high," says Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs. "There's a good reason we took our time with the sequel, and we are sure that Galaxy on Fire 2, with its improved graphics and completely new gameplay elements, will even surpass the success of its predecessor."

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
