Trism creator Steve Demeter dropped word during an exclusive interview with us earlier today that a sequel to his highly-rated game (pictured) is in the works. Trism 2 promises to build on the original with new mechanics and modes, including multiplayer.

Turn-based multiplayer will be at the core of the game, confessed Demeter. Support for high score rankings places Trism among a select group of online-enabled iPhone games; however, multiplayer promises a massive step forward for the young series and platform as a whole. "We're looking at a system where players take turns sliding trisms across the board to earn points."

Along with Trism 2, Demeter highlighted a spin-off entitled Trism: Puzzle Master. Built from the same engine used for Syllogism mode in Trism, the game is set to offer a slate of new puzzles to be solved solely through use of the accelerometer. Puzzle Master will pack in four times the number of levels as the original with an emphasis on introducing a more gradual difficulty curve.

Both Trism 2 and Trism: Puzzle Master are under development for iPhone and iPod Touch. No release date has been set for either game.
