Following on from yesterday's announcement from Konami that it is releasing its rock rhythm game Rock Revolution in early 2009, it has now unveiled first screenshots of the dual-screen game.

The screenshots show the game's different instruments - you can take your pick before each song - in action. So there's drums, guitar and vocals to get your fingers (and vocal chords) around, each of which is replicated on the touch screen while your band rocks out on the top screen.

There's no fancy guitar fret peripheral here - Guitar Hero: On Tour style - but the range of instruments on offer should more than make up for its lack of that. The visuals too are distinctly different to Guitar Hero's, favouring a bit of a cel-shaded look.

20 musical tracks are promised, plus a range of venues, which can be customised with props such as fireworks and laser shows.

Granted you've got a while to wait until you can check out the latest rock kid on the block, but from what we've seen so far it's going to be well worth hanging on for.
