It's been used to pass coffee breaks and boring afternoons at work ever since Windows 95 first dominated the globe, and now Breakpoint has announced 4 Solitaire '08 for the mobile platform.

This latest digital re-engineering of the lonely card game will feature four different modes of play (aaah, now you see where the name comes from):

Klondike (also known as ordinary solitaire),
Golf,
Pyramid and,
Poker.

A hint system will work to educate card sharks on the details of each method of play, just in case you've never tried the world's most popular computer game of all time. It also boasts a function to upload your high scores from each mode to claim your accolade as terminally single card player of the universe.

Since most mobiles are now smaller than an actual pack of cards, it does seem very convenient to have another comprehensive version of solitaire on your handset. It make you wonder if anyone's actually played the game with a real deck of cards in the last ten years though, doesn't it?

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
