Buffy the Vampire Slayer stakes claim on DS

New Sacrifice Buffy title announced by 505 Games

Buffy the Vampire Slayer stakes claim on DS

You might have thought Buffy the Vampire Slayer was dead – replaced by the likes of Heroes and Lost – but it seems Sarah Michelle Gellar's vampire-killing character still has some life left in her.

Indeed, 505 Games has announced it's resurrecting her in a new DS game, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice. The game is scheduled for release this November.

The game's a third-person action affair with 24 levels featuring Buffy attempting to seal the re-opened Hellmouth. The story itself has been penned by Rob Deshotel, writer of numerous episodes of the TV series.

Going on the screenshots, it'll play a little similarly to the surprisingly good Buffy game released on Xbox back in 2002. (Fascinating fact for you: writing a guide for that title was the first bit of game writing work I ever did and having to get past the final Dreamer Demons on the amount of health I'd accidentally overwritten my previous save with nearly meant it was the last bit, too.)

The point is we could be in for a treat. Even if Buffy is a bit passé these days.
