Hands up if you remember Choplifter? I lost entire weeks of my childhood to that game. I still wonder what happened to all those little stick-men I had to leave behind...

Which means that now, the merest sniff of a side-scrolling helicopter title makes me go all dewy-eyed with memories.

So meet Chopper. Developed by Majic Jungle Software, it sees you having to hover left and right through some richly-designed levels, avoiding enemy fire from tanks and bazooka-blokes, while completing your mission.

It promises 60 levels spread over three difficulty settings, and some iPhone-tastic controls. You tilt the phone left and right to fly, and tap the screen to fire or drop bombs.

It certainly looks a helluva lot better than Choplifter did back in the day. Chopper is out now for £4.99 - check its App Store product page here.
