Oxygen recently announced it was bringing a MyGames series to DS – welcome news for any eight-year-old girl going by the titles, which range from My Dress-Up to My Secret Diary.

Now it has released more details on the first game due out, My MakeUp, which is coming this autumn.

My MakeUp's design is apparently based upon the real-world interests of its young female audience (that's presumably painting themselves up like mini drag queens in the making). It enables players to use – get this – a whole range of brushes, colours, creams, face masks, hydrating fruits and facepaint palettes. These, if you're male and possibly unaware, are infinitely more interesting than rocket launchers and giant mechs to most females.

There are opportunities in the game to make yourself and your friends over for special events such as parties and weddings, and wi-fi play will enable three friends to attend your 'makeover party'. Which should please parents because, although not likely to be quieter, it should at least prove less messy than a real one.

Your favourite makeovers can then be saved in a photo album or sent to friends. They're even compatible with the the forthcoming game in the series My Dress-Up. (All four games in the range will be 'link-up-able' to enable players to chat using the MyGames Chat wi-fi feature.)

And there you were, probably thinking make-up was dull. Look out for My MakeUp on DS this autumn.
